Terms of Use
The short version
- SeaNama is a player. It doesn't host, upload, index or provide any movies or shows, and it ships with no addons.
- What you watch comes from addons and services you or your host choose. Only use it with content you have the right to watch.
- Whoever runs an instance is responsible for it, for who they invite, and for the addons they add.
- It's free, in beta, and provided as it is.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to seanama.com, the SeaNama apps, the SeaNama instance software, and our update service ("SeaNama"). By using any of them you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use SeaNama. SeaNama is made by an independent project based in Canada ("we", "us").
2. What SeaNama is
SeaNama is media player software. It works with third-party add-ons that use the open Stremio add-on protocol, and with third-party "debrid" download services. SeaNama itself:
- does not host, store, upload, index, link to or provide any films, series or other media;
- ships with no add-ons and does not recommend any particular add-on;
- does not provide or resell debrid services.
Everything SeaNama plays is found by add-ons and delivered by services that you or your host choose and configure.
3. Using SeaNama lawfully
You are responsible for how you use SeaNama and for what you watch with it. You agree to:
- only stream, download or share content that you have the right to access under the law where you live;
- not use SeaNama to infringe copyright or any other right of anyone else;
- follow the terms of the add-ons and services you use, including any limits on sharing an account;
- not offer access to an instance to the public, or sell or rent access to one;
- not attack, overload, probe or disrupt seanama.com, our update service, or any instance you don't run;
- not use watch-together chat, profile names or anything else in SeaNama to harass anyone or to share unlawful material.
4. Instances and their operators
An instance is a server that someone sets up with the SeaNama instance software and shares with people they know. Whoever runs an instance (its "operator") is solely responsible for it, including the add-ons and services it is set up with, who they invite, how they treat their members' information, and complying with the law and with the terms of the services they use.
We don't control instances run by other people, can't see what is on them, and are not responsible for them. If you have a problem with an instance, contact its operator.
5. Add-ons and other services
Add-ons, debrid services, metadata providers and every other third-party service you use with SeaNama are run by others under their own terms. We don't endorse them, and we aren't responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or legality. You use them at your own risk.
6. The software licence
SeaNama's own code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. It also contains components from other projects under their own licences, listed on our Open-source licences page. Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licences give you.
7. Names and trademarks
"SeaNama" and the three-wave logo are ours. You may use the name to refer to SeaNama, but not in a way that suggests we endorse or are connected with you or your instance.
Stremio is a trademark of its owners. SeaNama is an independent project: it shares no code with Stremio and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Stremio. We mention Stremio only to explain what SeaNama is compatible with and how it compares. Other names are trademarks of their respective owners.
8. Beta, changes and availability
SeaNama is in beta. Features may change, break or be removed, and the website, downloads and update service may be unavailable at times or stop altogether. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you.
9. No warranty
SeaNama is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
10. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of SeaNama, of any instance, or of any third-party add-on or service. Our total liability for any claim relating to SeaNama is limited to CA$100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.
11. Your responsibility for misuse
If you use SeaNama in breach of these terms or the law (for example, to infringe someone's copyright) and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that claim causes us, to the extent the law allows.
12. Ending
You can stop using SeaNama at any time by uninstalling the app and leaving any instance. An operator can remove you from their instance. We may stop offering the website, downloads or update service, and may block anyone who misuses them.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, say so on seanama.com before they take effect. Using SeaNama after that means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province in which SeaNama's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of that province, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
